The Centre on Friday notified the appointments of three Advocates as Additional Judges of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

They are:

  1. Suvir Sehgal
  2. Girish Agnihotri
  3. Alka Sarin

They will assume office in the above order of seniority and will hold the position for two years.

The SC Collegium had recommended the elevation of these Advocates as judges of the high court, along with Advocates Jasgurpreet Singh Puri and Kamal Sehgal, on July 25. However, the notification is silent w.r.t. to the decision on elevation of the said two Advocates.

The above said recommendation had then deferred the elevation of Advocates Puneet Bali and Vikas Bahl, as proposed by the High Court Collegium and had remitted the name of Advocate Inder Pal Singh Doabia back to the High Court.
