The Central Government has appointed Advocates Rajiv Roy and Harish Kumar as Judges of the Patna High Court.

The official notification issued today by Ministry of Law and Justice reads thus:

"In exercise of the power conferred by clause (l) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint S/Shri (i) Rajiv Roy, and (ii) Harish Kumar, to be Judges of the Patna High Court, in that order of seniority, with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices."

Supreme Court Collegium had recommended elevation of Kumar in its meeting held on 8th February, 2022. Roy's name was recommended in a meeting held on 1st February, 2022.

The Patna High Court has working strength of 26 judges as against the sanctioned strength of 53 posts. With the new appointments, the working strength will increase to 28.
