Bombay HC To Conduct Hearings Via Zoom In Urgent Matters Until May 5 [Read Notice]

Justice GS Patel was the first judge at the High Court to conduct hearing through the said application and live stream the proceedings.

Hearings will take place on five notified working days, April 20, 23, 27, 30 and May 5. Moreover, at the principal bench, five judges at a time will be hearing cases as per their assignment, whereas two judges (one of criminal matters, other for civil cases) have been appointed to hear cases at Nagpur and Aurangabad at a time. Hearings will take place between 12 noon and 2 pm.

As for the High Court of Bombay at Goa, Justice DS Naidu has been nominated by the Chief Justice to hear all cases via video conferencing on all five dates mentioned above.

Advocates shall send their praecipes to the email Ids mentioned against the category of the matters along with a soft copy only in PDF of the matter.

As experienced during Justice Patel's maiden hearing through the said app, several participants kept their microphone unmuted causing a lot of disturbance. Thus, the Court has instructed participants to keep their microphone muted and unmute only when required to speak. Also, only the Advocate/duly authorized person shall address the Court.

Furthermore, Court has instructed advocates to appear in appropriate attire-

"All hearings conducted via Video Conferencing proceed as if the Advocates are appearing before the Court in person. Therefore, Advocates are reminded to comply with all Court rules of dress and etiquette."
