According to recent statistics from the National Judicial Data Grid, there are 2,84,023 pending cases involving crimes against women, highlighting the crucial need for focused attention and intervention.
In response to these alarming figures, BFWL has put forth a pioneering initiative proposing that public prosecutors handling trials, bail matters, and appeals in cases of crimes against women and children be women advocates.
The representation underscores that this initiative aims not only to ensure the sensitive handling of such cases but also to empower women in the legal profession by entrusting them with significant responsibilities.

"We seek the Bar Council of India's support to advocate for the implementation of this initiative by the State Government. Furthermore, we propose to collaborate with both the Bar Council of India and the Bihar State Bar Council to develop and conduct specialized training programs for women advocates," the representation adds.
