Bengaluru Court Extends Police Custody Of JD(S) Leader Suraj Revanna In Sexual Abuse Case By Man

A city court in Bengaluru on Monday extended the police custody of Janata Dal (S) MLC Suraj Revanna till July 3rd. Revanna has been arrested in connection with a case of alleged sexual abuse of a man.

The 42nd Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate extended Revanna's custody by two days on an application filed by the Karnataka Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Notably, Revanna is the elder brother of Prajwal Revanna who has been accused in multiple sexual assault cases himself. He is also the elder son of political supremo HD Revanna.

Special Public Prosecutor Ashok Naik appearing for the Crime Investigation Department sought custody of the accused.

On June 22, a youth filed a complaint with Holenarasipur Rural Police alleging sexual harassment by Suraj Revanna. He alleged that Suraj had sexually assaulted him and one H.L. Shivakumar had threatened him with murder if he complained to the police about the harassment.

Following this, an FIR was registered against the accused under Sections 377 (unnatural offences), 342 (illegal detention), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code. Subsequently, the Hassan Police arrested Suraj Revanna on June 22.

Recently another complaint on similar charges has been registered against Suraj Revanna.
