The Bar Council of India (BCI) has given the relaxation of using bare act with short notes/Comments for the All India Bar Examination-XVI [AIBE-XVI] to be held on October 31

"The Council has considered the request made by many candidates appearing in the 16th All India Bar Examination scheduled to be held on 31.10.2021 to allow candidates to use bare Acts with short notes/comments during the examination as candidates are facing difficulty in procuring bare Acts without short notes/comments from the market," read the press release issued by the BCI yesterday.

Earlier, the BCI had issued a notification informing that no books or study material will be allowed in the examination hall, except Bare Acts without notes during AIBE-XVI.

Since this particular notification created confusion amongst the candidates taking the AIBE-XVI and many candidates even faced difficulty in procuring bare Acts without short notes/comments from the market, therefore, the BCI decided to give the relaxation by allowing the carrying of bare acts with short notes/Comments in the examination hall.

The relevant decision of the council has been quoted here as under:-

"Having considered the difficulty faced by the candidates, the Council has been resolved to relax the condition of using bare without short notes/comments during the examination and thus candidates are hereby allowed/ to use bares Acts having short note/comments (not detailed comments) as are readily available in the market during the 16th All India Bar Examination scheduled to be held on 31.10.2021.
