The Delhi High Court on Wednesday reserved judgment in Enforcement Directorate's plea for revoking pardon granted to Rajiv Saxena, one of the accused in the VVIP Chooper Scam case.
Notice on the application was issued on May 18 and the order was reserved by single-Judge bench of Justice C. Hari Shankar on June 3, after hearing both the parties via video conferencing.
A Delhi Court had allowed the Dubai-based businessman to turn approver and had granted him pardon on March 25, 2019.
The ED had thereafter moved the Rouse Avenue Court against the grant of pardon however the application came to be dismissed in March this year. The law enforcement agency had also sought cancellation of his bail but the same was rejected while stating that Saxena was yet to depose before the court as a witness.
The application for rejection of bail moved before the High Court was also heard by the single-Judge and is listed for disposal on June 17.
Saxena, director in two Dubai-based firms, was extradited to India on January 31 2019, in connection with the Rs. 3,600-crore scam case relating to the purchase of 12 VVIP helicopters from AgustaWestland.
In April this year, the High Court had refused to grant interim bail to Christan Michel, co-accused in the Scam, noting that Michel's apprehension of catching COVID19 virus due to the overcrowding of prison and his vulnerable age is unfounded.
