A court in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj District today sent three accused in the Atique Ahmed-Ashraf killing to 14-day Judicial Custody.

The remand magistrate sent the alleged shooters - identified as Sunny Singh, Lavlesh Tiwari, and Arun Maurya - to Judicial custody after they were produced by the Prayagraj Police.

The Ahmad brothers were shot dead in a shocking incident on Saturday night at around 10 pm in the presence of the police and the media while they were being taken for a medical examination to a hospital in Prayagraj.

The three accused came to the spot posing as journalists and shot the Ahmed brothers point-blank range in full view of media persons and the incident was captured live on television channels. The incident took place just two days after Atique's son Asad was killed in an encounter.

The alleged assailants have been booked under IPC sections 302 along with sections 3, 7, 25, and 27 of the Arms Act, 1959, and other relevant sections.

Meanwhile, the UP government has set up a judicial commission to inquire into the matter under the Commission of Inquiry Act 1952 to be led by retired Allahabad High Court Judge Arvind Kumar Tripathi.
