The Advocate General of Kerala has notified the Kerala Hgh Court that about 25 Government Pleaders and several members of staff in the Advocate General's office has tested positive for COVID-19.
The notice issued by Kerala High Court Advocate's Association Secretary Advocate Anand K. also indicated that considering this situation, there may be some difficulty with regard to the movement of files.
The advocates were thereby requested to co-operate with the situation.
Yesterday, a full bench of the Court had extended all interim orders for another month in light of the Covid-19 surge in the State and the recent Supreme Court guidelines relaxing the limitation period to file cases under all general and special laws across the country till February 28.
The Court had also reverted to virtual proceedings completely since this week amid the raging pandemic. It was also indicated that physical hearings may resume after a month if the situation is under control by then, on February 11, 2022.
The Court was proceeding with hybrid hearings since mid-November 2021 in the wake of Covid-19 cases being under control in the State. However, with the recent rise in positivity rates, the High Court is considering shifting back to virtual proceedings.
The State has been witnessing a surge in Covid positive cases and has been functioning with certain restrictions since the onset of 2022.
