Dapoli Resort Case: Sessions Court Grants Interim Anticipatory Bail To Maharashtra's Former Cabinet Minister Anil Parab

Anil Parab, former cabinet minister of Maharashtra from Uddhav Thackeray's faction was granted interim anticipatory bail by a sessions court in Khed district of Maharashtra in a FIR pertaining to a land in Dapoli.
The interim relief has been granted till November 14, 2022 on which date the matter will be heard for further relief.
Parab's counsels argued that his custodial interrogation was not required, neither was section 420 of the IPC attracted. He further argued that the application would become infructuous if relief was not granted.
The FIR was registered against Parab on a complaint filed by BJP leader Kirit Somaiya. Somaiya alleged that Parab along with two others made false entries in the Murud village gram panchayat records regarding taxation of the land where the resort is built.
Somaiya alleged a scam of Rs. 10 crore regarding a resort called - Sai Resort – built on the plot. Parab, Suresh Shankar Tupe and Anant Kori are booked under Sections 420 (cheating) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.
It is Somaiya's case that Parab and the other accused made false entries in the regarding levy and collection of tax on the land despite no resort being there. The case will now come up for hearing on Monday.
