The Alumni Association of West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (WBNUJS) conducted a fundraiser and managed to raise more than Rs. 50 lakhs to donate to organisations working on COVID-19 relief.

The fundraiser, which was initiated on May 1, 2021, was organized with the NGO, Milaap, and raised the amount which will be provided to organisations such as Doctors For You and others, who have working to provide relief as the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic has gripped the nation.

The Alumni Association's Vice-President, Shameek Ray, stated, "While the response of the Alumni community and its well wishers must be acknowledged, the entire drive was builty on the undeniable truth that the heroes today are our frontline workers and this is one of the several ways civil society can contribute to ensure that their untiring efforts are adequately supported".

Nishant Beniwal, the President of the Alumni Association, said, "India is in a crisis today which can and is being fought only by our warriors from the public and private health sector and organisations like Doctors For You. The public's role must extend to exploring multiple ways in which these frontline individuals can be helped and contribution of funds is only one among them".
