Delhi High Court has decided to function with all of its Division and Single Benches sitting on all working days.

As this decision would come into effect from May 22, all the Benches will take up urgent matters of all kinds through video conferencing during the suspended functioning of the court.

Till now, urgent matters were taken up by 2 Division Benches and 10 Single Benches.

Roster Benches would also take up the matters which are at the stage of final arguments and in which consent has been received from both the sides agreeing for disposal of case on the basis of written submissions alone.

However, non urgent matters will only be taken up by Roster Benches on resumption of regular hearings and as per the Chief Justice's order.

So far, the High Court and the subordinate courts have taken up 20,726 urgent matters during the lockdown period from 24.03.2020 to 19.05.2020.

The existing procedure of mentioning of urgent matters would continue to be in force till further orders.
