Advocate Kitty Kumarmangalam, wife of late Ex-Union Minister, Rangarajan Kumaramangalam was murdered yesterday in a robbery attempt allegedly by her washerman Raju (24) at her residence in South West Delhi's Vasant Vihar.

As per the statement of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South West), Ingit Pratap Singh, the accused visited her residence at around 9 pm yesterday and as soon as the domestic help opened the door, she was overpowered and confined in a room. Thereafter, two men entered inside and assaulted Kitty following which the accused smothered her with a pillow.

Kitty Kumaramangalam had served as a Supreme Court lawyer. Her husband was first elected to Lok Sabha in 1984, and had served as Union Minister of State, Parliamentary Affairs and Law, Justice and Company Affairs between 1991 and 92, Parliamentary Affairs Minister between 1992 and 93, and as the country's Power Minister in 1998.
