NALSA Initiates ‘Connecting To Serve’ Project On Nov 9

The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), with the approval of executive chairperson Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Supreme Court judge, has initiated a project 'Connecting to Serve'.

The project was launched on November 9 by the Chief Justice of India in the presence of other dignitaries. The objective of the programme is to make weaker and marginalized sections of society aware about the existence of legal services institutions and availability of free legal services.

As part of Delhi State Legal Services Authority’s (DSLSA) commitment to facilitate 'Access to Justice for All' and in pursuance of the Campaign 'Connecting to Serve', DSLSA has taken a number of initiatives and is going to take up number of projects from November 9 to 18. ln continuation of project 'Dehleej' i.e., a project in coordination with anganwadis for spreading the message of legal services to the grassroots which was undertaken as a 'pilot project' in June 2017, covering 15 aanganwadis each in the Dabri and Mangolpuri areas, the said project would now be taken up in 90 anganwadis spread over East, North-East, South and South-East Delhi.

As part of this, para legal volunteers attached with DSLSA would conduct a 'door-to-door campaign' in the jurisdiction of the anganwadis to find out socio-legal problems of the community, which would be followed by lawyers being deputed to these areas to provide legal aid and organization of legal aid camps to facilitate various services to the community. The campaign will take place from November 13 to 25 in different anganwadi areas and the lawyers would visit these areas on December 1, and has been flagged off today in areas of Kondli, Trilokpuri, Wazirabad, Shahdara, Sangam Vihar and Khanpur. This authority is committed to its motto 'Access to Justice for All' and is taking all possible steps in the direction of expanding its reach to the people at the grassroots.
