Taking note of the allegations made by children of Brajesh Thakur that he is being tortured in Patiala Central Jail, the main accused in Muzaffarpur shelter home case, the Supreme Court has ordered his medical examination.
Senior Advocate Vikas Singh had mentioned the matter at 12.55 pm before the bench headed by Justice Madan B Lokur and handed over a letter written by Brajesh Kumar Thakur’s children Nikita Anand and Rahul Anand stating that Brajesh is being tortured physically and mentally in Patiala Central Jail.
The bench then directed the Superintendent of the Central Jail, Patiala, to produce the accused before the Medical Superintendent, Rajindra Hospital, Patiala, at 4.00 pm today itself.
“We also direct that the Chief Judicial Magistrate or any other Judicial Magistrate authorized by him should be present in the Hospital at 4.00 p.m. The Medical Superintendent, Rajindra Hospital, Patiala shall constitute a medical board who shall examine Mr. Brajesh Kumar Thakur and submit a report to this Court by Monday, 10th December, 2018,” the bench said in the order.
Now the case has been posted to Monday.
Brajesh Kumar Thakur is the owner of the controversial shelter house in which many minor girls were found to be raped. On October 30, the court had directed his transfer to Patiala Jail.
