The Madhya Pradesh High Court has restrained Arun Jain from functioning as member of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Jabalpur till further orders.
The court issued the directive during preliminary hearing of a writ petition registered on a letter of MP State Legal Services Authority (MPSLSA), Government Advocate Deepak Awasthi said.
The MPSLSA has prayed for taking action against the members of Child Welfare Committee for allegedly misusing the authority and power granted by the law and violating the provisions of statute by holding time bound enquiry, he said.
The MP State Legal Services Authority member secretary wrote a letter to the Chief Justice on 17.05.2017 after it received certain complaints against the members of CWC.
Advocate Siddharth Gulatee is appointed as amicus curiae to assist the court in the matter.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Hemant Gupta and Justice Sanjay Yadav heard the petition.
The court said “In the meantime, Arun Jain shall not function as member of Child Welfare Committee.”
The MP State Legal Services Authority member secretary wrote a letter to the Chief Justice on 17.05.2017 after it received certain complaints against the CWC.
The court issued notices on the State government, the Collector Jabalpur, the Child Welfare Committee Jabalpur and CWC member Arun Jain.
