The MP High Court has directed the State government to grant sanction for completion of Karopani water tank within two months and thereafter the work shall be completed as expeditiously as possible.
The Karopani tank is under construction and was meant for preservation of the black bucks that are in large number in the area surrounding the tank is situated in tribal dominated Dindori district, petitioner’s counsel Dinesh Upadhyay said.
The court disposed of a PIL filed by a social worker alleging Rs. 80 lakh was allotted for construction of the Karopani water tank under the Mahatma Ganhi Gramin Rojgar Scheme and there were alleged financial irregularities committed by the authorities despite spending the entire amount the tank is still incomplete.
In an action taken report filed by the respondent government authorities there was reference that commissioner Jabalpur division has written to the district collector Dindori for completion of the tank.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Hemant Gupta and Justice Vijay Kumar Shukla said said In view of the aforesaid status report, we direct the State Government to grant sanction for completion of Karopani Tank within two months, and thereafter, the work shall be completed, as expeditiously as possible.
