BITS Pilani Goa Campus is organizing Lex Omnia, the annual moot court competition as part of Waves, cultural festival. Bear witness to a legal battle like never before.
This edition, in association with NALSAR University of Law promises to be bigger and better. Aiming to attract students from law colleges all over the country. This competition will be judged by professional lawyers who are sure to bring stellar knowledge to the table.

ELIGIBILITY:
- All Law Colleges and Law Schools recognized by the Bar Council of India are eligible to participate in the competition.
- The team shall comprise of two mooters and two researchers, all of whom shall be regular bonafide students of the institution. Only students from amongst the under graduate five year integrated LL.B. degree and three year Degree law programmes are eligible. Students pursuing Master‟s Degree in Law or any post graduate degree in Law are not eligible to be team members. Only ONE team from each Law College/School shall be permitted to register.
REGISTRATION
- A mail is to be sent to the coordinators of Lex Omnia – 2015at lexomnia@bits-waves.orgto confirm the status of participation of the college, before sending the registration form by post.
- A Team Registration Fee of Rs500 (Rs. 500 apart from the Individual event registration fee, which is Rs 1700 per person) is payable along with the attached Registration Form.
- The Registration Fee should be in the form of a Demand Draft in the name of ‘Director-BITS Pilani KK Birla Goa Campus’ payable at “SBI BITS Pilani Goa” Branch.
- The duly completed Registration Form (along with the Demand Draft) must be sent latest by 10 th October 2015at the following postal address:

- No change in the names of the participants shall be permitted after the receipt of theRegistration Form, except at the sole discretion of the Organizers.

GUIDELINE
- The two designated mooters shall be the speakers and shall put forth oral arguments in thecompetition and the researchers shall not be permitted to put forth oral arguments.
- The dress code for the participants during the rounds of the competition as well as other functions of the Competitions shall be western formals for gentlemen and western or Indian formals for ladies.
- Each team shall be provided a “Team Code‟ and the same must be used for all purposes during the competition.
TIME SCHEDULE

- October 10, 2015 Last date by which the Registration Form along with DD should be received by the Organisers
- October 20, 2015 Deadline for requesting Clarification
- October 25, 2015 Deadline for submission of Memorials (Hard Copies and Soft Copies)
- November 5, 2015 (a) Morning Arrival of Teams
(b) Orientation Session for the Teams at 1800 hours
- November 6, 2014 Oral Rounds begin.
MEMORIAL REQUIREMENTS AND EVALUATION
- Each participating team shall prepare written arguments (memorials) on both sides –Claimant and Respondent of the moot problem.
- The memorials shall have a soft cover and must be firmly stapled and firmly taped
- The cover page of the Memorial must follow the colour scheme:
Blue for the Claimant cover page
Red for the Respondent cover page
- All memorials shall be in the English language and compulsorily contain the following requirements:
- A memorial shall be printed on one side of the A4 size page only. The text font for the main body shall be 12, Times New Roman with font spacing of 1.5 and text font for the footnotes shall be 10, Times New Roman with font spacing of 1.0. The margins shall be 1.5 inch on the left side and 1.0 inch on other sides.
- The character spacing should be normal and neither expanded nor condensed.
The memorial shall contain the following:
- Cover Page
- Table of Content
- Table of Abbreviation;
- Index of Authorities;
- Statement of Jurisdiction;
- Questions Presented;
- Statement of Facts;
- Summary of Pleadings (in maximum of 20 pages);
- Pleadings/Arguments Advanced;
- Conclusion/Prayer for Relief;
- The Arguments Advanced should not be more than 3500 words.
- The memorial shall not contain any Annexure / Photographs / Sketches / Exhibits /
- The participating team shall not disclose their identity in any way whatsoever in the
- All teams must send 8 (Eight) copies of the Memorial for each side and also mail aAffidavit etc.
- A covering letter must be enclosed with the Memorials specifying the name of the College/University of the participating team
- Hard copies of the memorials must reach the postal address given above latest by25th October 2015 [5:00 p.m. IST]. Delay in the submission of memorials will attract a penalty of 2 marks per day up-till a period of one week (7 days). A delay beyond the stipulated 7 days, will make the team ineligible the “Best Memorial” award.
- The teams are also requested to intimate the posting details (date, time, mode, etc.) to the following email address : lexomnia@bits-waves.org
- Memorial will be evaluated for the total of 100 marks as under by a team of judges:
- Proper cause title, statement of jurisdiction and presentation of
Questions 5+5+10
- Interpretation of facts 15
- Application of relevant law to the case 15
- Coherent and logical written arguments advanced 20
- Logical use of case law 20
- Legality of Reliefs prayed for 10
Total 100
- Memorial marks will be used only for memorial prizes. However, in case of a tie inoral round rankings, memorial evaluation will be considered to identify the higher rank.
- There will be no exchange of memorials between the team prior to the competition. The same will be done prior to the oral rounds amongst the competing teams as explained in the orientation program.The teams will be assigned their respective sides through a draw of lots.
- After the completion of the Competition, the Organizers shall reserve the right to use the memorials submitted by the participating teams, as they may deem appropriate.
MISCELLANEOUS
1.No member of any team or any individual connected with any team will be permitted to hear the arguments in any court room in which that team is not one of the contesting teams whilst that team is still in the competition. The Organizers shall take strict action, including disqualification from the competition, against any team found to be scouting through a team member or through any other means.
2.All Participants are expected to maintain decorum in Court during the rounds of the competition and are expected to conduct themselves in a manner befitting the legal profession.
3.The Organizers reserve the right to take appropriate action for any unethical, unprofessional and immoral conduct.
4.The Organizers decision as regards the interpretation of rules or any other matter related to the competition will be final.
5.If there is any situation which is not contemplated in the rules, the Organizers decision on the same shall be final.
6.The Organizers reserve the right to vary, alter, modify, or repeal any of the above rules if so required and as they may deem appropriate.
REQUESTS FOR INTERPRETATION OF THE CASE STUDY AND THE RULES OF THE COMPETITION:
1.All the requests for interpretation of the case study and rules of the competition must be directed to MANAGER, WAVES – 2015. The last date for seeking all clarifications is 20thOctober2015.
2.All such requests must be sent via an email to lexomnia@bits-waves.org, with the subject of the email as “REQUEST FOR INTERPRETATION”
