Lawyer Raises A Stink Over Poor Condition Of Record Room At Rohini Court; Sends Complaint To District Judge

Despite all the safety concerns about judicial records, the record room in Rohini court complex is in a state of mess with water seeping inside, electric wires hanging loose and not even a fan installed.

The poor state of record room has been highlighted by advocate Birender Sangwan who was prompted to send a complaint to the District Judge (North West) after a visit to the record room.

In his complaint to the judge, Sangwan said, “I was shocked and surprised to see the poor condition of record room which was giving away foul smell.”

Sangwan said: “Despite being newly constructed, the record room near the elevator has lot of seepage which raises every apprehension that judicial record might get destroyed and adversely impact the court as well as the litigants.”

The complainant-advocate was shocked to see that there is no air conditioner or air purifier in the record room resulting in suffocation and with seepage, there is every possibility of people working there contracting diseases.

That is not all.

The electric cables in the record room are hanging loose and with leakage etc., any untoward incident like a short circuit is just waiting to happen.

To Sangwan’s shock, as per the letter, one of the record rooms is filled with filthy water from the toilet.

Disgusted and worried, Sangwan has also moved an RTI application seeking to know the details like the budget for the renovation of record room, work order etc.

Sangwan said, “Air conditioner, air purifiers and fans are compulsory as per the work order which is prepared before any such renovation or building work is undertaken.”

He has requested the District Judge to take a personal note of his complaint and issue directions to make necessary arrangements in the record room.
