Nyayakarta is a flagship event, inaugurated by the Pro Bono Club of National Law University Odisha. It aims to cultivate an ethos of an equitable society among law students and professionals alike, reminding us of our noble duty to extend a helping hand to the marginalized and uninformed. Competition Overview

This platform serves as a crucible for redefining legal aid, encouraging participants to express innovative ideas and cultivate legal acumen through immersive experiences. Through a series of intellectually stimulating events, Nyayakarta offers the opportunity for professional growth along with rewards and exclusive benefits.

PIL DRAFTING COMPETITION:

  • Description

Participants shall be presented with a set of facts, simulating real-life situations where public interest is at stake. The Participant' s task will be to analyze these facts, identify the legal issues involved, and draft a PIL that could be presented before a court of law.

  • Who can participate?

Students enrolled in a 5-year integrated law program and a 3-year law program are eligible to apply for this event.

DEVIL'S ADVOCATE COMPETITION

  • Description

The participant will be asked to challenge and critique a given judgment(s). In the process, the participant needs to showcase their skills in critical thinking, legal reasoning, and persuasive argumentation.

  • Who can Participate?

Students enrolled in a 5-year integrated law program and a 3-year law program are eligible to apply for this event.

Last date to Register - 18.09.2024.

Release of Judgement(s) for the Round - 05.09.2024.

The deadline to submit memos for all the rounds is 18.09.2024.

Preliminary and Semi-Final rounds - 21.09.2024, 11 am onwards.

Final round - 22.08.2024, 11 am onwards.

  • Dress Code

Male: Black Trousers, White Shirt, Black Blazer, Black Neck Tie and Black Formal Shoes.

Female: Black Trousers, White Shirt, Black Blazer, and Black Formal Shoes.

DETAILS OF PAYMENT:

The prescribed fee for the course shall be payable through the SBI Collect gateway, steps for the same are mentioned below:

  • Step 1: Click on the URL - https://www.onlinesbi.sbi/sbicollect/icollecthome.htm
  • Step 2: Accept the disclaimer clause and click on 'Proceed'
  • Steps 3: Under “State of Corporate / Institution” select “Odisha” from the dropdown menu.
  • Step 4: Under “Type of Corporate / Institution” select “Education Institutions” from the drop-down menu and click on “GO”.
  • Steps 5: Under “Educational Institutions Name” select “NATIONAL LAW UNIVERSITY ODISHA” from the drop-down menu and click on “Submit” button.
  • Step 6: Select Payment Category “Registration for Seminar and Events”. Furnish the required details and make payment.

Write 'Nyayakarta' in the remarks and Event Name while making payment.

Registered Mobile Number and e-mail address should be submitted in the lower part of the screen. This information is important to reprint the e-receipt subsequent to any successful payment.

  • Step 7: Download the SBI Collect Receipt.

Please note that the bank charges for various payment modes are also displayed which is to be borne by the remitter. Carefully examine the charges displayed since the charges for different payment modes are different. Select the desired payment mode.

FEE ONCE PAID SHALL NOT BE REFUNDED.

Generation of Fee Receipt:An online fee receipt will be generated once the payment is processed successfully. You are required to upload this fee receipt while filling up the online Application form.
