"What They Don't Teach You At Law School?": Dharmashastra National Law University Holds Workshop

The Dharmashastra National Law University on 10th and 11th December organised the first-of-its-kind workshop -"What they don't teach you at law school". The workshop aimed to improve the students' insight into career prospects in law while keeping the central focus on the nuances not taught in law schools. The guest speakers for the workshop included Senior Advocate Sanjoy Ghose and Advocates Gautam Narayan, Sonal Mattoo, Vikram Hegde, Anuj Aggarwal and Satyakam. The workshop was divided into six lectures given by each individual speaker over the course of two days.

The introductory lecture was given by Senior Advocate of Delhi High Court Sanjoy Ghose where he introduced students to the idea of how an understanding of different disciplines apart from law helps a litigating lawyer. The Second lecture was delivered by Advocate Satyakam on advocacy and professional ethics. The third lecture was taken by Advocate Sonal Mattoo who talked about careers in the non-core field like the prevention of sexual harassment. The fourth, fifth and sixth sessions were taken by Advocates Gautam Narayan, Anuj Aggarwal, and Vikram Hegde on procedure practice and politics of the Supreme Court, a career in ADR and logistics and timelines for litigators respectively.

The workshop was also graced by Prof. (Dr.) Yogesh Pratap Singh, Vice-Chancellor, NLU Tripura as the guest of honour in the valedictory session.

The workshop was organised by the Internship Cell and Academic Outreach Committee of the Dharmashastra National Law University, Jabalpur.
