President Of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu Lays Foundation Stone For National Law University Tripura
The foundation stone has been laid for the country's youngest National Law University at Tripura, Agartala by Her Excellency Smt. Droupadi Murmu, Hon'ble President of India. NLU Tripura will be the country's 25th National Law University, adding to the 23rd member of the Consortium of NLUS. Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tripura Prof (Dr.) Manik Saha, Hon'ble Justice Indrajit Mahanty, Chief Justice of Tripura and Chancellor of NLU Tripura, Shri Ratan Nath Lal, Hon'ble Minister of Law and Higher Education, Prof. Yogesh Pratap Singh, Founding Vice-Chancellor and other sitting judges of the Tripura High Court, former chief justices and judges of the High Court, senior members of the bar, senior officials of state administration were also present on this occasion.
The President expressed her hope that National Law University Tripura would play its role as premier legal education centre in the country. Legal education at par with international standards is one of the priorities of Govt of India under new education policy. Establishment of National Law University Tripura is a step forward in this direction.
Justice Indrajit Mahanty on this occasion said that the proposed National Law University will prove as an asset not only to the law students of Tripura but for the students of entire north-eastern states. He said that it will not only open academic opportunities to the students but boost economic activities in the state.
Prof. (Dr.) Yogesh Pratap Singh who assumed charge as the founding Vice-Chancellor of the NLU Tripura informed that NLU Tripura will start its academic session from this year itself from the newly constructed campus of Tripura Judicial Academy. The notification inviting applications for five year BALLB (Hons) and One Year LL.M based on CLAT 2022 scores has already been issued.
