NLIU Bhopal To Host 1st Constitutional Law Symposium With India Foundation

The Symposium is organized by the National Law Institute University Law Review, a student-run body within the University whose aim and purpose is to inculcate a culture of research and publishing among students and promote legal awareness. India Foundation is a research centre based in New Delhi that focuses on the issues, challenges and opportunities of the India Polity. The Centre for Constitutional Legal Studies of India Foundation specializes in the study and research of legal issues in the ever-evolving constitutional framework of India.

The Symposium will consist of paper presentations from students on the theme concerning "Contemporary Constitutional Law Issues in India" on Day 1. The Paper Presentation will be made by 8 different teams of students, whose submissions have been accepted after a thorough review process conducted by the NLIU Law Review.

Day 2 of the Symposium will include a panel discussion on the topic "Faith & Indian Constitution". The panel discussion will consist of very eminent and notable speakers from the field of law and academics, such as J. Chelameswar, Retired Judge, Supreme Court of India; Mrs. Meenakshi Lekhi, Member of Parliament and Senior Lawyer; Prof. V. Vijayakumar, Vice Chancellor, NLIU Bhopal; Mr. Vikramjit Banerjee, Additional Solicitor General, Supreme Court of India; Mr. P.S Narasimha, Former Additional Solicitor General and Senior Lawyer; Ms. Anuradha Shankar, ADGP Madhya Pradesh Police; Prof. V.K Dixit, Professor of Jurisprudence, NLIU Bhopal; and Mr. J Sai Deepak, Senior Lawyer, Supreme Court of India.

The Symposium will also include special plenary sessions on "Research agenda for Constitutional law in India" and "Freedom of Speech and Expression in the Age of Social Media" where the panelists will address the student body in order to facilitate awareness and engage in discussion about key constitutional law issues in the country.
