Dharmashastra National Law University Jabalpur Enters Into MOU With Chanakya National Law University, Patna

Dharmashastra National Law University (DNLU) Jabalpur, known for its strong commitment to academic excellence and holistic development, has recently enhanced its academic standing through a strategic collaboration. Following series of signing Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with prestigious institutions, DNLU has recently entered into an MoU with Chanakya National Law University (CNLU), Patna to enhance research-oriented courses, including Masters and Ph.D. programs.

Established in year 2018 under the Madhya Pradesh Dharmashastra National Law University Act, 2018, DNLU aims to advance legal education and uphold the rule of law as per the Indian Constitution. Guided by Justice J.K. Maheshwari, Judge of Supreme Court of India as its Visitor, Justice Suresh Kumar Kait, Chief Justice of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh, as its Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar Sinha as its Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Praveen Tripathi as Registrar. DNLU offers B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), LL.M., and Ph.D. programs.

CNLU Patna, established under the Chanakya National Law University Act, 2006 (Bihar Act No. 24 of 2006) and included in Section 2 (f) & 12 (B) of the U.G.C Act, 1956.

The MoU was signed by Prof. (Dr.) Faizan Mustafa, Vice Chancellor of CNLU, and Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar Sinha, Vice Chancellor of DNLU, in the presence of P.K. Shahi, Advocate General of Bihar;  Baidnath Yadav, IAS, Secretary of the Education Department, Bihar;  Anjani Kumar Singh, Law Secretary, Bihar;  Rama Kant Sharma, Chairman of the State Bar Council of Bihar; Prof. Ali Mehdi, Former Dean of the Faculty of Law, BHU; Prof. (Dr.) S.P. Singh, Registrar of CNLU; and Prof. Ajay Kumar, Professor of Law, CNLU.

During the signing ceremony, Prof. Mustafa emphasized upon the importance of student and faculty exchange programs as a cornerstone for academic growth and institutional collaboration. He highlighted that such programs would provide students with broader exposure to diverse teaching methodologies, interdisciplinary legal studies, and practical learning opportunities. Prof. Mustafa further encouraged DNLU students to actively visit the CNLU campus to attend classes, particularly in key subjects, to gain new perspectives, interact with esteemed faculty, and engage in academic discussions that would enrich their knowledge base and professional skills.

Prof. Manoj Sinha reciprocated similar sentiments, inviting students and faculty from CNLU to visit and stay the DNLU campus regularly to foster increased interaction and collaboration between the two institutions.

The MoU aims to facilitates exchange programs for students and faculty, promotes collaborative research initiatives, enabling joint academic events such as seminars, conferences, and moot court competitions. By bringing together experts, academicians, and students, these initiatives aim to create a vibrant academic environment that nurtures innovation and excellence in legal education and research.
