The RGNUL Student Research Review (RSRR) is a bi-annual, student-run, blind peer-reviewed journal based at Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab. It is the flagship journal of RGNUL managed by the students of the University. It was founded with the objective of facilitating novel ideas and a research conducive environment.

About The Panel Discussion

With crime statistics reaching new heights throughout the country, effective, smart, and empathetic policing is the need of the hour. To address the status quo of the policing regime in India RGNUL Student Research Review, in collaboration with Common Cause India brings to you a panel discussion on "Citizen Police Interactions and Policing in the Pandemic" on October 30, 2021, from 11 AM to 1 PM.

The event shall include a presentation on the Status of Policing in India Report (SPIR) Series by Ms. Radhika Jha, Research Executive, Common Cause. The presentation shall be followed by a Panel Discussion and Q&A. The Panelists will connect on Zoom and the event will be live-streamed on YouTube and Facebook by Common Cause and RSRR. The details of the keynote speakers for the Panel discussion can be found below:

  1. Mr. N. Ramchandran, President, Indian Police Foundation: Mr. Ramachandran served the States of Assam and Meghalaya as DGP. He is a highly decorated and accomplished IPS officer with extensive experience in police administration, intelligence, counter terrorism, conflict resolution, etc. Presently, Mr. Ramachandran is the President & Founder of the Indian Police Foundation. The Indian Police Foundation is a multi-disciplinary think tank dedicated to work for police reforms and the improvement of policing through research, capacity building and policy advocacy.
  2. Dr. Vipul Mudgal, Director & Chief Executive, Common Cause & IM4Change: Dr. Vipul Mudgal is an activist, journalist and media scholar. He has been a Resident Editor at Hindustan Times in Jaipur and Lucknow, a Senior Editor at New Delhi, South Asia Editor at Asia Times, Bangkok, and a BBC journalist in London and Delhi. With a doctorate from Leicester University, UK, as a Nehru Fellow, he specializes in media coverage of terrorism. He also heads the Inclusive Media for Change Project (

    ) which collates ideas and information on India's marginalized. Earlier, he was the founder-director of the Publics and Policies Programme at Delhi-based think tank, CSDS. In 2020, he was a Reagan-Fascell Democracy Fellow at the International Forum for Democratic Studies in Washington DC.
  3. Dr. Ruchi Sinha, Associate Professor, TISS: Dr. Ruchi Sinha is an Associate Professor at Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) and also the Chairperson of the Center for Criminology and Justice at TISS. She has experience of almost two decades in the field of criminal justice system, policing, crime and development and criminal justice policy. She has been a visiting Faculty at Gothenburg University, Sweden. She has also been invited as a council Member, State Coaching Council, with Women's Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WICCI). She is also part of the Advisory Board of Smt. Kantaben Shah Research Centre for Multidisciplinary Studies of Maniben Nanavati Women's College.
