National University of Juridical Sciences is hosting Mr. Vikramjit Banerjee, Additional Solicitor General of India for the 5th lecture as a part of the NUJS Online Lecture Series.

Brief Speaker Bio:
Mr. Banerjee is one of the youngest Additional Solicitor Generals of India. Prior to this, he was the Advocate General of Nagaland, again, one of the youngest persons to hold this post. He is the first person from the NLU system to hold these coveted positions. He is a designated Senior Advocate and practices primarily in the Supreme Court of India.
Having graduated from National Law School of India University, Bangalore in 1997, Mr. Banerjee joined the Chambers of the then Additional Solicitor General of India Mr. V.R. Reddy. His deep interest in the field of human rights and civil liberties led him to pursue an LL.M. in the same subject from the University of Leicester, UK, where he was granted the prestigious British Chevening Scholarship for the year 1999 – 2000. Mr. Banerjee was also awarded the SUN Full Scholarship to attend the Summer University Programme on 'Transnational Flows, Structures, Agents and the Idea of Development' at the Central European University at Budapest, Hungary. He has also been Nippon Fellow at the prestigious Salzburg Seminar on 'Rule of Law: Reconciling Religion and Culture in a Constitutional Framework' in October 2006.
