Hidayatullah National Law University, a pioneer in legal education and Indian Institute of Management, Raipur a frontline IIM signed a MoU for collaboration on research, teaching and exchange of students and faculty. The MoU also covers conducting joint training programmes, publication and other advocacy efforts. The MoU was part of the International Conference on “Blockchain, Cryptocurrency, and Related Fintech Measures” under the aegis of Centre for Law and Sciences, Centre for Securities Law and Centre for Comparative Laws held on 2nd March of 2024 with Prof. (Dr.) Ram Kumar Kakani, Director of Indian Institute of Management Raipur as Chief Guest and Pranjal Kamra, Founder, Finology Ventures Pvt. Ltd. as Guest of Honour.
Prof. V.C.Vivekanandan, Vice Chancellor of HNLU & President of the Consortium of National Law Universities of India remarked “ The MoU between HNLU and IIM Raipur will synergize the interface of Law and Business segments for the stakeholders at large and we are extremely happy on this new beginning” Speaking on behalf of IIM Raipur, Prof Ram Kumar Kakani expressed “ This MoU will lay the foundation for several joint programmes by the two frontline institutes of the State and will add a new dimension of collaborative effort in Higher Education especially with the thrust of multi-disciplinarity of NEP”
Earlier in the Inaugural event of the International Conference, Prof Vivekanandan remarked “The increasing interface of Law and Technology with the emergence of Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency necessitating various regulatory interventions ranging from Anti Money laundering, KYC, Taxation, Smart Contracts, and Environmental issues need to be deliberated in this conference.” Prof Ram Kakani through his talk elaborated the journey of cryptocurrency highlighting the role of Satoshi Nakamoto, presumed pseudonymous person or persons who developed Bitcoin and Mr. Pranjal Kamra, founder of Finology and Alumnus of HNLU highlighted the multiple avenues available to law graduates including that of Fintech Sector quoting his personal example of diversifying into a new field but with the foundation of Law.
The International Conference had 6 parallel sessions where in 41 papers were presented by more than 55 participants across India on a wide array of relevant themes like Cyber Security Issues, Constitutional perspective, Sustainable Goals and Regulatory, Administrative and Legal Challenges. Earlier in the inaugural session, Dr.Vipan Kumar, Registrar in charge welcomed the gathering with the Conference Secretary, Dr. Debmita Mondal who briefed on the theme and format of the conference with Mr. Abhinav Sukhla the co-secretary delivering the Vote of thanks. The events were anchored by Ms. Harsimran Kaur, Mr. Prateek Manjul, Arya Sharma and Vinit Bachwani of HNLU. The Valediction session had the distribution of certificates to the paper presenters and also the Best Paper presentation awarded to Prof. Kuhu Tiwari from Christ University Bangalore, Prof.. Sandeep C. from G D Goenka University Gurugram and Mr. Aditya Bhura from Amity University Kolkata.
