Dharmashastra National Law University, Jabalpur Organises Orientation-Cum-Induction Session

Dharmashastra National Law University, Jabalpur organised an Orientation-cum-Induction Session for the freshers' batch of 2024 pursuing B.A.LL. B (Hons.) and LL.M. Programme on 1st August,2024 in the august presence of Chief Guests Prof. (Dr.) Usha Tandon, Vice Chancellor, Dr. Rajendra Prasad National Law University Prayagraj and Prof. (Dr.) S. Surya Prakash, Vice Chancellor, National Law Institute University, Bhopal. The Programme commenced with lighting of lamp by the dignitaries.

During her address, Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) Usha Tandon shared her experiences as a student and academician, offering valuable insights. She congratulated the students on beginning their journey into the unique and powerful profession of law, which trains individuals to argue effectively. Prof. Tandon encouraged students to pursue their interests in sports and music alongside their academics and advised them to study law from primary sources. She commended DNLU for organizing the session and highlighted the university's distinction of having the largest geographical campus.

Prof. (Dr.) S. Surya Prakash emphasized the importance of the quality of life over the next five years and urged students to fulfil their obligations to parents, siblings, and society. Wishing them success, he recommended students read "Wings of Fire" by APJ Abdul Kalam and Steve Jobs' Stanford Commencement Address for inspiration.

Earlier in the day, Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar Sinha congratulated the students on securing admission to the university. Welcoming them to DNLU, Prof. Sinha discussed the vision and philosophy of DNLU, which offers an excellent ecosystem for holistic student development. He advised students to make the most of the university's resources for their personal and professional growth.

During the Orientation Session, the university signed an MoU with the National Law Institute University, Bhopal, aiming to synergize their professional capabilities in capacity building, education, research, and publications in the legal field. The MoU will facilitate exchange programs for students and faculty, collaborative research initiatives, and joint academic events such as seminars, conferences, and moot court competitions. Prof. Surya Prakash expressed his desire for both institutions to grow together.

The Orientation Programme was followed by open house session with the parents & guardians. There were detailed sessions for Academic Process by Dr. Praveen Tripathi, Associate Professor, Examination Process moderated by the Controller of Examinations, Dr. Gargi Chakrabarti, Hostel and Hostel & Campus Rules by Dr. Deeplaxmi Chile, Assistant Professor (Warden). Prof. (Dr.) Shailesh N. Hadli, Registrar and Mr. Gautam Gupta, Assistant Professor of Law delivered the vote of thanks.

The session showcased the University's commitment for providing quality education and holistic development to its students. The new batch was acquainted with the state-of-the-art infrastructure, modern amenities, and student-centric facilities that make Dharmashastra National Law University a preferred destination for legal studies.

It may be mentioned that DNLU, like all other National Law Universities, admits students to its UG and PG programmes based on Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) conducted by the Consortium of National Law Universities. DNLU offers a five-year integrated undergraduate programme in law and arts and LLM in two specializations: Business Law & Criminal Law. All the Faculty Members and Administrative Staff, of the University attended the programme. Ms. Ruchira Chaturvedi, Assistant Prof. of Law was the Master of the Ceremony.
