5th NLIU-CAM International Negotiation Competition 2024 [8th - 10 November]
The National Law Institute University, Bhopal is one of the premier legal institutions in India and has consistently been ranked among the top 5 National Law Universities in the country since its inception in 1997. It is located in the scenic forests of Bhopal and aims to foster intellectual growth to benefit the development of law and justice in the nation. NLIU Bhopal boasts of a team of experienced faculty members who are experts in various areas of law.
The University has a successful history with alumni in various fields of law worldwide. The campus provides a peaceful environment for students to study and the university is dedicated to cultivating their intellect and preparing them for successful careers.
The University has established the Alternative Dispute Resolution Cell (the ADRC), one of the oldest in Asia, to promote legal and educational excellence. The ADRC focuses on disseminating knowledge about alternative dispute resolution through theoretical and empirical means. It has successfully organized India's premier Mediation Tournament, the NLIU-INADR International Mediation Tournament, and collaborates with organizations such as INADR and ICC. The ADRC conducts workshops and training sessions on Mediation and Negotiation for both vocational and tournament-based operations, as well as intra-college participant pool cum tournament.
Since its inception, the ADRC has become a leader in the field of arbitration, mediation, and negotiation. It believes in the principle of "learning beyond the four walls of a classroom" and encourages student participation in arbitration, negotiations, and mediation agreements to develop real-world skills.
Format Of the Tournament
The Competition will be in a negotiation format, where each team would consist of two participants- one client and one counsel. On account of refining the competitive level, the cell will select 30 teams in total.
The competition constitutes 5 rounds and proceeds in a knock-out format in the advance rounds. The Preliminary Rounds 1 and 2 will witness the selected 20 teams competing against each other. The top 8 teams will proceed to the Quarter- Final round. The Quarter- Final round will constitute 4 match-ups and 4 proceeding teams, with the Semi Final round consisting of 2 match- ups. The 2 winning teams will then negotiate in the final round.
Registration Process
- Teams which desire to participate in the competition must fill the Google Form.
- The Organizing Committee will select the top 30 teams on the basis of such applications and proceed to send application invites to the meritorious teams.
- The selected teams will be required to fill the Google Form by the 20th of October, 2024 and final payment has to be done by the 23rd of October, 2024.
Eligibility
- The participation is open to all students pursuing a bachelors' degree.
- The client and the counsel in a team should be from the same university.
Registration Fees
- INR 7,000 per team- For Indian teams
- USD 120 per team- For Foreign Teams
Coach
Every team may be accompanied by one coach. The registration fee for the coach is INR 1000 for an Indian team and USD 25 for an international team. The team coach is also permitted to attend their team's mediation sessions, however would not be allowed to assist the team during the Confidential Information release. The team coach shall also receive a certificate of recognition at the conclusion of the competition.
