The Gujarat National Law University Centre for Corporate and Insolvency Laws (GCCIL), in collaboration with the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) is organising a National Essay Writing Competition, 2024, on the theme 'Digitalisation of the IBC Ecosystem: Pros & Cons'

The GNLU Centre for Corporate and Competition Law was established on 13th October 2012 by Justice K. A. Puj, Former Judge, High Court of Gujarat with multiple objectives and endeavours to act as a platform for expanding scope and horizon of corporate and competition law through multi-dimensional research activities and publications. With the introduction of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016, the Centre for Corporate and Competition Law has been renamed as 'GNLU Centre for Corporate and Insolvency Laws' (GCCIL) with effect from 30th January 2020.

As one of the centres of excellence of GNLU Gandhinagar, one of the premier National Law Universities in India, the GCCIL was founded to conduct cutting-edge research and activities that would broaden the focus and horizon of Corporate and Insolvency Law research and publication. Since its inception, the Centre has been a forerunner in the field of research and training. The Centre has organised several research, training and extension activities in the field of Corporate, Competition and Insolvency laws.

The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India was established on 1st October 2016 under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 (Code). It is a key pillar of the ecosystem responsible for the implementation of the Code that consolidates and amends the laws relating to reorganization and insolvency resolution of corporate persons, partnership firms and individuals in a time-bound manner for maximization of the value of assets of such persons, to promote entrepreneurship, availability of credit and balance the interests of all the stakeholders.

About the Competition

The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) announces essay competitions for students in higher education through Institutes of Learning with the aim of enrobing students within the practicality and pragmatism of insolvency law in India. The IBBI in its endeavour to create awareness about the insolvency and bankruptcy regime amongst the students of higher education, promotes essay competitions. Under the said scheme, the GNLU Centre for Corporate and Insolvency Law (GCCIL), in collaboration with IBBI, is organizing an essay competition for students pursuing Higher Education. The competition shall provide students of higher education an opportunity to showcase phenomenal articulation and understanding of the Digitalisation of the IBC Ecosystem, the theme for this event, thereby reflecting and portraying exceptional research and documentation skills. The IBBI shall, through this competition, issue a certificate of participation to all participants in the essay competition, a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 to the student who has written the best essay, and a cash prize of Rs.5,000 to the student who has written the second-best essay.

Competition Guidelines

Theme for the event: Digitisation of the IBC Ecosystem: Pros & Cons

Word Limit: 4000 (min) to 8000 (max) – Inclusive of footnotes

Formatting: Times New Roman, Size 12, 1.5 Lines Spacing; For Citations - Times New Roman, Size 10, Single Line Spacing

Citation Style: OSCOLA 4th Edition

Plagiarism Policy: Submissions must be original and unpublished work of the author. All submissions will be run through a plagiarism check. The University reserves the right to reject any submission that is found to be plagiarised beyond the limit prescribed by UGC.

Identification: The Identity of the author must not be mentioned anywhere in the submission. Participants are required to submit a cover page exclusive of their submission with their personal details viz. Name, Affiliated Institute, Semester, Year, Email Address, Phone Number

Co-Authorship: All submissions must be single authored. Co-authorship is not allowed

All other instructions and requirements provided must be strictly adhered to.

Awards

Best Submission: INR 10,000

Second Best Submission: INR 5,000

All Submissions will receive a participation certificate from the IBBI.
