SVKM'S NMIMS, School Of Law Navi Mumbai: Athena 3.0 - A National Conference

Established in the year 2018, SVKM's NMIMS, School of Law, Navi Mumbai offers two courses, BA-LL.B (Hons.) and BBA-LL.B (Hons.), catering to the growing needs of the legal field. In providing such choice, it aims to create diversity in learning. The courses are designed in a manner that in addition to imbibing theoretical knowledge of law, the students are exposed to the practical facets of the law. It prepares the students for the real world by honing one's soft skills such as framing and drafting of arguments, interpretation of statutes; whilst keeping in touch with our political and historical heritage, and flexibility with work environments. Alongside the same, the school prioritises co-curricular and extra-curricular activities such as Moot Court Competitions, ADR Competitions and conferences.

Athena 3.0, the upcoming national conference, is envisioned as a platform to bring together forward-thinking minds to engage in meaningful discussions on the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI) with law, society, and the environment. This conference seeks to explore how AI can be harnessed to drive innovation while addressing the legal, ethical, environmental, and social challenges of our rapidly evolving world.

Through Athena 3.0, the aim is to foster dialogue on pivotal topics such as AI's role in the justice system, human rights, global security, healthcare, environmental sustainability, and intellectual property rights. By delving into these themes, the aim is to bridge the gap between technological advancement and societal well-being, shaping a future that prioritizes equity, accountability, and sustainability.

This conference marks a step toward not only understanding AI's transformative potential but also charting a path for actionable change, contributing to a future where technology complements human values and fosters global progress.

CALL FOR PAPERS

Athena 3.0 invites original, unpublished, and high-quality research contributions in the form of research articles, review papers, and empirical studies. Participation is encouraged from scholars, researchers, academicians, students, industry professionals, and practitioners across India. Submissions should explore innovative perspectives, practical applications, and critical analyses of Artificial Intelligence, focusing on its legal, environmental, social, and ethical dimensions. Emphasizing AI's role in shaping law, society, and governance, Athena 3.0 aims to foster dialogue and inspire actionable change toward a sustainable and equitable future.

The above subthemes are indicative, and authors are encouraged to submit papers on these and related topics within the broader scope of AI and its intersection with law, society, environment, and governance.

Guidelines for Abstract Submission

  1. The abstract should not exceed 300 words, excluding the title and keywords.
  2. The abstract should provide a comprehensive overview of the paper, clearly stating the theme, specific topic, methodology, aims, and scope.
  3. Format:

Font: Times New Roman

Heading Font Size: 14 pt

Font Size: 12 pt

Line Spacing: 1.5

Alignment: Justified

File Format: Only submissions in Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx) formats will be accepted.

  1. Title :

The title should be concise and descriptive, not exceeding 15 words.

Use bold font and center alignment for the title.

  1.  Author Details:

Provide the full name, designation, institution, and contact details (email and phone number) of all authors.

  1. Co-authorship is permitted with a maximum of two authors per submission.
  2. Submissions must be original, unpublished work and should not have been submitted, published, or presented elsewhere in any form.
  3. Intimation of acceptance or rejection will be done within 72 hours of receipt of the long abstract. Upon acceptance, detailed paper submission guidelines, a code of conduct, and the payment link will be provided in the acceptance email.

  • The deadline for submission is 20th January 2025. Late submissions will not be entertained unless, there are any valid reasons.

Papers must be structured as follows:

  • Abstract, Introduction, Experimental, Results & Discussion, Conclusions, and References.
  • Manuscripts should adhere to the template (Athena Journal issue 1) provided on the website of SVKM's NMIMS, Navi Mumbai website: http://surl.li/ijkqar
  • The original, unpublished, quality research papers must be submitted in Microsoft Word format as an attachment, including names of authors, email IDs and affiliations.
  • All submissions must adhere to strict plagiarism guidelines. The acceptable plagiarism limit is 10%. Additionally, the use of AI-generated content is strictly prohibited.

Review Process:

  • A panel of the editorial board will conduct a review for each submission.
  • Acceptance will be sent to the corresponding author after review with further details of the paper submission
  • Accepted papers/abstracts will be presented at the conference as oral presentations.

  • Last date for submission of Papers: 25th February 2025
  • Conference Date: 1st March 2025

Note: Abstracts if accepted, author/co-author has to register for the event, failing which presentations will not be permitted/ included in the abstract book.

The conference shall host university students, academicians and other professionals pertaining to the field of law or legal research.

1. For NMIMS Students-

  • Single Author- Rs. 200
  • Co-Authors- Rs. 300

2. For Students-

  • Single Author- Rs.400
  • Co-Authors- Rs 600

3. For Professionals-

  • Single Author- Rs.700
  • Co-Authors- Rs 800

Note: Fees to be paid only after the intimation of acceptance of the abstract.
