Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow was established by an Act of Govt. of Uttar Pradesh in 2005. It came into being on the 4th of January, 2006, to meet up with new challenges in the legal field and to strengthen the vision that the establishment of the first National Law School of the country gave. The University currently offers a PhD program in law, social sciences, and humanities and a one-year LL.M. program along with a five-year B.A. LL.B.(Hons.) integrated program. The University has a well-equipped Seminar Hall and Video Conferencing Hall, wherein seminars, workshops, and interactive sessions are conducted at regular intervals. The University's Madhu Limaye Library is one of the best amongst the law schools in India. The University offers an outstanding infrastructure and a supportive learning environment for legal education and research. The University places a special emphasis on instilling a sense of responsibility in students to serve society in the field of law.
ABOUT THE COMMITTEE
The Committee to Organize Seminars, Workshops, Extra-Marals, and Special Lectures of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University is the primary academic discussion committee of the university. It is known to organize annual events such as the National Seminar on Law & Technology and various other Workshops, Seminars, and Lecture Series on many contemporary and relevant legal issues for the benefit of the student and teaching fraternity throughout the year. The committee also organizes a unique podcast called Law and Life Korero: The RML Edition. This episode series is a one-to-one conversation between the host and RML alumni revolving around fields of career in law and law school aspects. The committee is also part of the 'Unnat Bharat Initiative' launched by the Government of India, under which it has adopted 5 villages in which it aims to provide quality legal aid, medical facilities, and aid in rural sustainability. The Committee aims to bring a catena of enriching opportunities and strives to conduct informative sessions to facilitate a consistent learning experience for the students of the university.
ABOUT THE SEMINAR
The field of law and technology is of paramount importance as it shapes various aspects of our society, economy, governance, and individual rights. Therefore, laws must be pliant to adapt to govern their use, ensure safety, and protect the rights of individuals and entities. The intertwining of law and technology is vital for ensuring a responsible, ethical, and sustainable integration of technological advancement into our lives, institutions, and societies. The Seminar aims to act as a catalyst for discussions on the key aspects of technology & law, its future trends, and impacts. It also seeks to gather inputs from a diverse range of stakeholders on legal issues relating to technology as well as to get a broader understanding of the developments of legal issues in this field in the past that will help generate a more holistic viewpoint about the existing concerns in the field of law and technology.
The Seminar Committee of RMLNLU has been successfully organizing RMLNLU's flagship National Seminars in the past years on the theme of Law and Technology. The media partner for the second edition of the flagship seminar was SCC Online. The distinguished guests who marked their presence were HMJ Rahul Chaturvedi, HMJ Shamim Ahmed, Mr Triveni Singh (SP, UP Police), and Prof. D.K. Lobiyal (JNU).
The Committee organized the inaugural edition of the National Seminar on Law and Technology in March 2021 in collaboration with the law firm Spice Route Legal. Prof. (Dr.) Tabrez Ahmed and Mr Triveni Singh (SP, UP Police) graced the event as the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour, respectively. The Keynote speakers for the event were Dr. Aprajita Bhatt (NLU Delhi) and Mr. Mathew Chacko (Partner, Spice Route Legal).
CALL FOR PAPERS
University invites well-researched and unpublished research papers, case analyses, and articles by Academicians, Policymakers, Journalists, Lawyers, Bureaucrats, Research scholars, and Students. Research papers shall be subject to the approval of the Editorial Board for inclusion in the seminar. The Seminar call for papers under the following sub-themes. SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
- All submissions have to be in English.
- The abstract should not be more than 500 words. It shall be accompanied by a cover letter containing - a brief profile of the author including e-mail ID, contact number, designation, institution, and official address.
- The word limit for a research paper is 6000-8000 words (inclusive of all citations and references).
- Submissions must be typed in Times New Roman, font size 12 on A4 size paper with a 1” margin on all sides with 1.5-line spacing. The heading should be in Times New Roman, Font Size 14, Bold, 1.5-line spacing, center-aligned while the sub-heading should be in Times New Roman, Font Size 13, Italicized, 1.15–line spacing. Footnotes must be in Times New Roman, Font Size 10 with 1.0-line spacing. The file extension shall be .doc.
- There can be a maximum of only one Co-Author. All the co-authors need to get registered for the seminar.
- Plagiarism shall not exceed more than 10%.
- The Author(s) should also send a declaration along with the abstract & final paper that their work is original and unpublished and that it does not infringe the copyright laws. The organizing committee is not responsible for any copyright infringements by the authors and if found the paper is liable to be disqualified at any stage.
- Author(s) are required to adhere to a uniform mode of citation: 21st edition of The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation.
- Author(s) who intend to present their research papers in the seminar are required to submit the Abstract on or before 25th December 2023 (latest by 11:59 PM) through the following link:- https://forms.gle/9ssvFindGB96oRqe8
- The abstracts will be peer-reviewed by the Editorial Board and only shortlisted abstracts will be invited to submit final papers as well to present them in the National Seminar. The final paper should be submitted after the intimation of acceptance of the abstract.

ACCOMMODATION GUIDELINES
- Limited shared accommodation to outstation participants will be provided by the organizing committee on a first come, first serve basis on the University campus.
- The accommodation will be provided from the evening of 2nd February to the morning of 5th February 2023. The accommodation charges include a 2-day stay with three meals each day. No accommodation will be provided to residents of Lucknow. Participants can register with or without accommodation facilities.
- The intimation regarding the last date to avail of accommodation will be given through email after the selection of the abstracts. No requests for accommodation will be entertained after the particular last date.
REWARDS
- The top three papers in the seminar will receive prize money:
1st Position: ₹15,000/-
2nd Position: ₹ 10,000/-
3rd Position: ₹ 5,000/-
- One internship slot will be awarded with Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas as the Winner. (for students)
- All the final submissions shall be subjected to blind peer review and plagiarism check, after which the selected papers may be considered for publication in an Edited Book.
- Certificates of paper presentation will be given to all registered authors for the papers presented in the Seminar.
