The Kerala High Court has dismissed a plea to direct Kerala Public Service Commission to conduct the Lower Division Clerk examination online instead of on OMR basis.
Rajan P Thodiyoor, who filed public interest litigation in this regard, had contended that there is 4 per cent chance of error in OMR-based examination, and in case of online method, the chances of error are less than 1 per cent.
The Kerala Public Service Commission submitted before the court that there are about 18 lakh applicants and to have online examination for 18 lakh applicants is mere impossible.
The state lacks infrastructure to have 'online' examination of such huge applicants, it told the bench headed by Chief Justice Navaniti Prasad Singh.
The bench refused to entertain the PIL, holding that it is a matter which is better left to the experts within the Kerala Public Service Commission to decide.
