Kerala Floods- High Court Initiates Suo Motu Proceedings, Will Hear The Case At 1.45pm

A Division Bench of the High Court of Kerala today  has initiated  suo motu proceedings to look into the calamities caused by floods faced by public, due to the recent  torrential rains all across the State of Kerala.

The Division Bench comprising Justice K. Vinod Chandran and Justice Ashok Menon have initiated the above proceedings, considering the extenuating circumstances and dearth of staff .

The bench has also called upon the Superintendent of Police, to provide food and shelter to around 500 families stranded at a relief camp at Aluva, and to appraise the same to the court by 01:45 pm today itself, when the court resumes for After Noon session.

The proceedings were initiated based on the information received by Justice K. Vinod Chandran.

In the handwritten proceedings issued by the bench , it has been stated thus: “Considering the extenuating circumstances and also the dearth of staff we register an unnumbered case, on information received by one of us,(K.V.C(J)), we request the superintendent of Police Ernakulam Rural to provide food and shelter to the 500 people stranded at the relief camp at St Joseph Pontifical Seminary between U.C College and Mangalapuzha Bridge at Aluva. We hope that some information would be received by us at 01:45 pm today.”
