Justice Arup Kumar Goswami Appointed As Acting Chief Justice Of Gauhati High Court

The Central Government, on Tuesday, notified the appointment of Justice Arup Kumar Goswami as the Acting Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court.

Justice Goswami obtained an LL.B. degree from Government Law College, Guwahati in 1985, and enrolled as an Advocate the same year. He was designated as a Senior Advocate by the Gauhati High Court in December, 2004, and was elevated as an Additional Judge of the High Court in 2011. His appointment was made permanent in November, 2012.

He will now be taking over as the Acting Chief Justice, owing to Chief Justice Ajit Singh’s retirement on 5 September.
