Justice Antony Dominic has been sworn in as the new Chief Justice of Kerala High Court. The ceremony was conducted before Governor Mr. P Sathasivam, in the presence of Chief Minister of Kerala, Mr. Pinarayi Vijayan.

It may be noted here that approving Justice Dominic's appointment as the Chief Justice of his parent High Court, the Supreme Court collegium had earlier explained, "It is made clear that the Collegium while making the above recommendation is conscious of the fact that Mr. Justice Antony Dominic hails from Kerala High Court and is due to retire in May this year. In this connection, the Collegium has invoked the provision of the Memorandum of Procedure which provides for elevation of a puisne Judge as Chief Justice in his own High Court if he has one year or less to retire."

Justice Dominic started his practice in Munsiff’s Court and JFCM, Kanjirappally in the year 1981. He then shifted practice to the High Court of Kerala at Ernakulam in 1986.

He was appointed as Additional Judge of the Kerala High Court in January, 2007 and was made a permanent Judge in December, 2008. He was then elevated as the Acting Chief Justice of the Court from 6 November, 2017, upon retirement of Justice Navaniti Prasad Singh.
