Roles and Responsibilities
The job will require an end to end handling of legal matters of the NPCI group and provide legal guidance related to the formulation and implementation of organizational strategies and policies -
1. Identifying and mitigating legal and regulatory risks in documents and commercial arrangements
2. Advising internal stakeholders on compliance with legal requirements pertaining to local and international payments as well as data privacy and protection legislation
3. Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements and other documents that are complex, high-risk, and strategic in nature, with domestic and foreign entities
4. Standardization of product and technology agreements
5. Advising internal stakeholders on governing law and dispute resolution mechanisms to be opted for agreements with foreign entities and issues related thereto
6. Advising and assisting on intellectual property rights (e.g. trademark, copyright, and patents) related issues and litigation
7. Working closely with business teams on the structuring of products, services, and other business arrangements while helping them identify the legal risks and adding additional value by highlighting commercial and operational risks
8. Assisting internal stakeholders in the formulation of policies and processes from a legal perspective while also helping them identify regulatory and operational risks
9. Keep abreast with, review and update internal stakeholders with the recent changes in laws and regulations as may be applicable to the payment and settlement industry
10. Drafting written statements and submissions replies to legal notices and managing ongoing litigation
11. Coordinate with external counsels for seeking legal opinions, drafting / reviewing documents on commercial and policy matters, and in relation to ongoing litigation
12. Preparation of committee papers in relation to legal function to keep senior management abreast of critical projects, issues, and litigation
13. Advising other functions within the organizations on legal issues pertaining to their functioning
14. Providing legal analysis in relation to new business initiatives and products
