Software Freedom Law Centre, India (SFLC.in) invites applications for the post of Litigation Counsel, Policy Counsel, and Senior Counsel to join its team.

About SFLC.in: SFLC.IN is a donor-supported legal services organization that brings together lawyers, policy analysts, students, and technologists to protect freedom in the digital world. It promotes innovation and open access to knowledge by helping developers make great Free and Open Source Software, protect the privacy and civil liberties of citizens in the digital world by educating and providing free legal advice, and helping policymakers make informed and just decisions with the use and adoption of technology. SFLC.in has been granted Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC).

Name of the Post: Litigation Counsel, Policy Counsel, and Senior Counsel

Location: Jangpura Extension, New Delhi, India

Essential Qualification and Experience

Litigation Counsel

• Law degree from a recognized institution.

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in technology law, human rights law, or intellectual property law.

• Familiarity with the legal system and experience in appearing before various courts and tribunals.

• Excellent academic credentials and research skills.

• Familiarity with the Open Source Ecosystem.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Hindi.

Policy Counsel

• Law/Policy degree from a recognized institution.

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant Policy experience, preferably in technology policy.

• Excellent academic credentials and research skills.

• Familiarity with the Open Source Ecosystem.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Hindi.

Senior Counsel

• Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) or Equivalent LL.M. graduates may also apply;

• Admission in good standing to the Bar Council of India;

• Minimum 4 years of litigation PQE, including making submissions before District and High Courts, working knowledge of Code of Civil Procedure, 1908;

• Excellent legal drafting and analytical skills, identifying appropriate applications;

• Familiarity with issues at the intersection of law, intellectual property rights, technology, and issues involving emerging technologies in particular;

• Litigation experience would be preferred; however, candidates with transactional experience are also encouraged to apply.
