The Bombay High Court invites application for the post of Chief Editor, Editor, Deputy Editor and Assistant Editor on contractual basis.

Essential Qualification and Experience

Chief Editor

• Must be a Retired District Judge, preferably Super-time/ Selection Scale/ Retired Secretary (Legislation); Or must hold degree in Law from a recognised University and must be a practising Advocate in the High Court of Bombay or Courts subordinate thereto for not less than TEN years on the date of publication of advertisement and while computing the period for practising as an Advocate, the period during which he/she has held the post of Public Prosecutor or Government Advocate or Judicial Officer shall be included.

• Must be an Academician having experience of active teaching in law colleges for not less than TEN years.

Editor (Marathi)

• Must be a Retired District Judge/ Retired Secretary (Legislation)/ retired Principal/Professor of Law Colleges/ retired Officers of Law Commission in the pay scale equivalent to Super-time scale/ State Legal Advisor, who has retired within past 5 years on superannuation only and having no post-retirement assignment. The Officers /Principal/Professors, who have taken voluntary retirement and those who are compulsorily retired/ discharged from service in probation/ review premature retired or dismissed shall not be considered, Or

• must hold degree in Law from a recognised University and must be a practising Advocate in the High Court of Bombay or Courts subordinate thereto for not less than seven years on the date of publication of advertisement and while computing the period for practising as an Advocate, the period during which he/she has held the post of Public Prosecutor or Government Advocate or Judicial Officer shall be included.

• Must hold degree in Law and who is working or who has worked as Public Prosecutor or Government Advocate for not less than seven years in the post.

Editor (English)

• Must be a Retired District Judge/ Retired Secretary (Legislation)/retired Principal/Professor of Law Colleges/ retired Officer of Law Commission in the pay scale equivalent to Super time scale/ State Legal Advisor, who has retired within past 5 years on superannuation only and having no post-retirement assignment. Deputy Editor

• Must be a Retired Judicial Officer, who has retired within past 5 years on superannuation only and having no post-retirement assignment. The retired Judicial Officers who have taken voluntary retirement and those who are compulsorily retired/ discharged from service in probation/ review premature retired or dismissed shall not be considered, Or

• Must hold degree in Law from a recognised University and must be a practising Advocate in the High Court of Bombay or Courts subordinate thereto for not less than five years on the date of publication of advertisement and while computing the period for practising as an Advocate, the period during which he/she has held the post of Public Prosecutor or Government Advocate or Judicial Officer shall be included.

• Must hold degree in Law and who is working or who has worked as Public Prosecutor or Government Advocate for not less than five years in the post.

Assistant Editor

• Must be a Retired Judicial Officer, who has retired within past 5 years on superannuation only and having no post-retirement assignment. The retired Judicial Officers who have taken voluntary retirement and those who are compulsorily retired/ discharged from service in probation/ review premature retired or dismissed shall not be considered, Or

• For Fresh Law Graduates: (i) must hold degree in Law from a recognised University and must have obtained the degree by passing each examination to be conducted for obtaining the said degree in first attempt and the final year of degree in law or final year of post-graduation in Law (LL.M.) must be passed with minimum marks of 55% as on the date of publication of the Advertisement.

• For Pleader, Attorney or Advocate: must hold degree in Law from a recognised University and must have experience as Pleader, Attorney or Advocate in the High Court at Bombay or the Courts subordinate thereto for not less than three years as on the date of publication of advertisement. The service in Maharashtra to the post of Public Prosecutor shall be considered as judicial profession.

• For Ministerial Staff (The members of the Ministerial staff of Bombay High Court, the members of the Ministerial Staff of the Courts subordinate to the High Court, the members of the staff working to the post of Law Assistant and the posts higher thereto, in Law and Judiciary Department, the members of the Ministerial staff in the office of the Government Pleader in High Court, City Civil Court and the District Courts) (i) must hold degree in Law from a recognised University and it is necessary to complete the service of not less than 3 years after obtaining degree in Law, as on the date of publication of the advertisement or prior thereto.
