After challenging the order of the Delhi Assembly Speaker to putting them behind bars for creating ruckus in the House, Jagdeep Rana and Rajan Kumar Madan on Tuesday moved the Delhi High Court seeking impleadment of 10 AAP MLAs who, they said, had assaulted them.
In an impleadment application moved before the court, they have sought to implead 10 AAP MLAs -- Amanatullah Khan, Jarnail Singh, Mohinder Goyal, Rajesh Gupta, Rituraj, Sanjeev Jha, Somnath Bharti, Nitin Tyagi, Prakash and Praveen Kumar.
In the plea, Jagdeep Rana said the said MLAs attacked him in the corridor of Delhi Legislative Assembly on June 28, after he and Rajan raised slogans and threw pamphlets in the House demanding resignation of Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain.
“All the legislators with common intention hit the petitioners (Jagdeep and Rajan) with fist and leg blows. The petitioners suffered several injuries in the said attack and their lives could only be saved due to timely intervention by the marshals of the house as well as some media persons,” the application said.
Rana said while he had to be rushed to Aruna Asaf Ali Hospital, Civil Lines; Rajan was taken for medical treatment only after he collapsed due to injuries sustained in the assault by these MLAs.
He said it was MLA Kapil Mishra who called the police and informed them about the assault.
He also added that on the same day, a woman named Simran Kaur Bedi was allegedly molested by three AAP MLAs and the woman had seen his friend and him getting assaulted by the MLAs.
“…it is submitted that the actions of these abovenamed MLAs, pursuant to the peaceful protest against the corruption of the Delhi Government inside the assembly by the petitioners, amounts to criminal conduct and these MLAs cannot claim immunity for their criminal actions under the garb of privileges of the Members of Legislative Assembly and thus, are liable for criminal prosecution,” the impleadment application said.
