Institute of Law, Kurukshetra University 1st National Moot Court Competition, 2016
The Institute of Law, Kurukshetra University is organizing its 1st National Moot Court Competition which is based on Juvenile Law. The competition will provide a platform to students across the nation to put on display their advocacy skills, to refine their research capabilities & reasoning power and to build up their confidence and professional ethics.

Eligibility
- The Competition shall be open to students who are
- Pursuing an integrated 5 year LL.B. programme in India or
- Pursuing a 3 year LL.B. programme in India.
- Each team shall consist of minimum of two members and maximum of three members. Under no condition shall a team consisting morethan 3 members be allowed to participate.
- In the event where a team consists of three members then –
- Such team shall designate two of its members as speakers and
- Such team shall designate one member, who has not been designated as speaker as a researcher. The team must amongst its members identify speakers and researcher at the time of registering itself.
- In the event where a team consists of two members, the team shall designateboth the members as speakers and no member in the team shall be allowed to berepresented as a researcher and take the researcher’s test.
Registration
- Online Registration: All the participating institutions have to confirmparticipation by sending an email consisting of a scanned copy of registrationform to moot.iolkuk@gmail.com on or before February 12, 2016 by 5:00 PM.
- Registration by Post: The duly filled in hard copies of the Registration Formalong with a demand draft of INR 2,000/- (Indian Rupees Two Thousand Only)must reach the Organizers by February 17, 2016.
- Address for Post: The hard copy of the Registration Form shall be sent on following address only through Speed Post –

PURPOSE - National Moot Court Competition, 2016
- The participating teams must send their Registration Forms accompanied withdemand draft only through Speed Post. The teams shall solely be responsible forany kind of delay in receipt of Registration Form.
- Demand Draft: The demand draft of INR 2,000/- (Indian Rupees TwoThousand Only) shall be drawn in favour of “DIRECTOR / NATIONAL MOOT COURT, INSTITUTE OF LAW, KURUKSHETRAUNIVERSITY” payable at Kurukshetra.
Guidelines for Submission of Memorial
- Strict Adherence to Rules Regarding Memorials: All requirements have to be strictly followed. Non adherence to the same will attract penalty subject to the discretion of the organizers.
- Memorials to be prepared from Both Sides: Each team must prepare memorials for both sides to the dispute.
- Submission of Soft Copy of Memorials:
- The soft copies of the memorial from each side should reach the Organizers on moot.iolkuk@gmail.com in either .pdf or .doc or .docx format latest by March 1, 2016 before 5:00 PM.
- Memorials shall be sent as an attachment with the mail in the form of singlefile for each side of memorial.
- A penalty of 1 mark shall be levied in case the memorial is submitted in anyother format or as a multiple file by the team.
- The team submitting the soft copy 5 days after the last date of the submissionof the soft copy of the memorial will be disqualified from the competition.
- Submission of Hard Copy of Memorials:
- One copy of the memorial from each side should reach the Organizers on thebelow mentioned address by March 7, 2016 (Only through speed post) –

PURPOSE - National Moot Court Competition, 2016
- The teams have to carry five copies of the memorial from each side andsubmit the same during formal registration.
- No Difference between Soft Copy and Hard Copy of Memorial: The hard copy of memorial must be exact replica of the soft copy submitted with theOrganizers. Any difference in the same will result in disqualification from theCompetition.
Rewards & Prizes
Awards: The following awards shall be awarded in the Competition:
- Best Team: the Team winning the final round of the Competition shall be given a trophy and a cash prize of INR 10,000/- (Indian Rupees Ten Thousand Only)
- Runners Up: the runners up team in the final round of the Competition shall be given a trophy and a cash prize of INR 6000/- (Indian Rupees Six Thousand Only)
- Best Speaker: The speaker having the highest score in the preliminary rounds shall be given a cash prize of INR 2500/- (Indian Rupees Two Thousand Five Hundred Only).
- Best Memorial: The team having the highest average memorial score from both sides shall be given a cash prize of INR 2500/- (Indian Rupees Two Thousand Five Hundred Only).
- Best Researcher: The participant having the highest score in the researcher's test shall be given a cash prize of INR 1500/- (Indian Rupees One Thousand Five Hundred Only).
- Certificates of merit shall be given to all the teams qualifying for quarter finals and beyond.
- Certificate of participation shall be given to all the participating teams.
The awards, certificates of merit and certificates of participation shall be given during the valedictory ceremony to be conducted on March 13, 2016. No certificate will be given to the team before or after the valedictory function.
