The Acting Chief Justice (ACJ) of Punjab & Haryana High Court Justice G.S. Sandhawalia today, has launched Punjab & Haryana version of Indian Law Reporter (ILR) website.
ACJ Sandhawalia said that, "my prayer to bar is to enhance their legal knowledge." The judge further said that in the old times, he used to have an old torn register, which is now converted into a Word file as it is easier to update if the judgment gets overruled.
Emphasizing the significance of staying abreast with evolving jurisprudence, ACJ Sandhawalia remarked that the website is "free of cost and easily accessible."
Justice Anupinder Singh Grewal announced that the new Punjab & Haryana High Court version of the ILR website is user-friendly, featuring a free text search and comprising over 93,00 judgments from 1950 onwards. Justice Grewal highlighted that over 9,152 judgments have been translated into vernacular languages (Punjabi and Hindi) with the assistance of an AI-assisted legal committee.
The High Court council of Law Reporting is comprised of ACJ Justice G.S. Sandhawalia as Chairman and Justices Vikas Behl, Jagmohan Bansal, AG Punjab Gurminder Singh and AG Haryana Baldev Raj Mahajan, Senior advocate R.S. Cheema and High Court Bar President Vikas Malik as the members.
The ILR Committee is headed by Justice Anupinder Singh Grewal and Justices Mahabir Singh Sindhu, Vinod S. Bhardwaj, Pankaj Jain, Harkesh Manuja as members.
Senior advocate Sanjeev Sharma is the editor of the editorial board which has team of 16 law reporters.
The event was graced by the presence of judges and members of the bar, culminating in a vote of thanks delivered by Justice Mahabir Singh Sindhu.
