The Acting Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court Dr. Justice Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi has reconstituted the 'Commercial Appellate Division' having a single Division Bench comprising Justice Aditya Kumar Mohapatra and Justice Murahari Sri Raman.

Section 5 of the Commercial Courts Act, 2015 empowers the Chief Justices of High Courts to constitute Commercial Appellate Division having one or more Division Benches for the purpose of exercising the jurisdiction and poOrissa High Court Reforms Commercial Appellate Division with New Bench Led by Justices Mohapatra and Sri Ramanwers conferred on it by the Act.

The Commercial Appellate Division hears appeals from the orders/judgments of the Benches of Single Judges designated as 'Commercial Division' by the Chief Justice under Section 4(1) of the Act.

Section 5(2) of the Act requires the Chief Justice to nominate such Judges of the High Court who have experience in dealing with commercial disputes to be Judges of the Commercial Appellate Division.

The Act was enacted to provide for the constitution of Commercial Courts, Commercial Appellate Courts, Commercial Division and Commercial Appellate Division in the High Courts for adjudicating commercial disputes of specified value and matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
