The Madras High Court has denied bail to YouTuber and biker TTF Vasan who was arrested in September this year for rash driving after he was injured while performing a "wheelie" in the Chennai-Bengaluru highway.

Justice CV Karthikeyan noted that the youtuber, who has around 4.5 million followers should learn a lesson. The court took note of the Additional Public Prosecutor's submission that the youtuber had a large influence on youngsters, who ended up asking their parents to buy expensive bikes, and ended riding them in a rash manner on public roads.

Quite fortunately for others and unfortunately for the petitioner, he alone had suffered an injury during the incident. It is a lesson for him. Let him continue to be in custody,” the judge said.

When Vasan's counsel informed the court that his hand had been fractured during the incident and required treatment in a private hospital, the court rejected the request and said that the medical examiner in the prison could examine Vasan.

Vasan had reportedly lost control of the bike while attempting to do a wheelie, a manoeuvre in which the front wheel of the two-wheeler is raised off the road for a brief period. A video of Vasan being thrown off the bike on the highway and onto the bushes had been shared widely on social media. Following this, the Baluchetty Chatram police booked Vasan under section 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
