The Kerala High Court will hold a reference on 2nd August at 10:15 am to condole the large-scale loss of lives and to express solidarity with the survivors who lost their homes and family members in the landslides in Wayanad. The reference will be held in the court of the Chief Justice.

On Tuesday, extremely heavy rainfall in Wayanad triggered landslides in the hilly areas of the district, especially in the villages of Mundakkai and Choormala. It is estimated that at least 293 people are dead and 200 are injured. 240 people are missing as per the reports. The rescue mission led by the army has reportedly saved over 1000 people.

The Acting Chief Justice A. Muhamed Mustaque, Advocate General of the State and the President of Kerala High Court Advocates' Association will speak for two minutes. It will be followed by observing two minutes of silence.

The reference will also be attended by advocates and staff of the High Court.
