A woman from Kozhikode has approached the Kerala High Court seeking directions to remove her alleged morphed videos from the internet.

Justice A. Badharudeen has issued notices to all intermediaries including Google, Meta and Yahoo on the petition seeking to make the video unavailable on search.

The woman was a Panchayat Vice-President and alleges that some people, out of political rivalry, made a ploy to leak her morphed videos. She has resigned from the position reportedly due to the pressure of her political opponents after the videos were leaked.

She also seeks to disable access to the content as it may become available on other sites.

The plea claims that last year, the woman's acquaintance recorded some of her videos, edited them and harassed the petitioner. Though an FIR was filed in this regard, the matter was later settled before the police on the assurance that all videos were deleted. However, on her wedding day, it is alleged that the morphed videos showing private parts resurfaced. It is alleged that even after a complaint, the police did not take any effort to arrest the accused or remove the videos.

Petitioner further said that with time, these videos were circulated in various groups and social media and now her social media is flooded with obscene messages. The videos were even uploaded to some adult sites, it is claimed.

She said since the authorities were taking no action, she on her own requested Google, Yahoo and Meta to take steps to remove the video. However, there was no response.

The plea is moved by Advocates Renjith B. Marar, Lekshmi N. Kaimal, P. Rajkumar, Keshavraj Nair, Arun Poomulli, Preetha S. Chandran, Abhijith Sreekumar, Anand Ramesh, Abhiram S., C. R. Rekha, Gaadha Suresh, Anakha K. Ayril
