The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday issued notice to the State government on the bail petition filed by Kannada actor Darshan Thoogdeep Srinivas, who has been arrested in connection with the Renukaswamy murder case.

A single judge bench of Justice S Vishwajith Shetty also directed the prosecution to produce the actor's medical records. Further it directed the prosecution to file its statement of objection to the petition by the next date of hearing.

The direction followed after Senior Advocate C V Nagesh appearing for Drashan informed the court that he has serious ailment in relation to the spine. Further, it was said that yesterday (Monday-October 21) medical examination and tests were carried out on him.

The court thus said, “We will call for the medical reports and post the matter for further hearing on Monday.

The Sessions court had on October 14, rejected the bail application filed by Darshan and co-accused Pavitra Gowda. Darshan was arrested in the Renukaswamy murder case, on June 11, 2024 and remanded to judicial custody on June 22. The police had recently filed a chargesheet in the case. Meanwhile, another co-accused Keshavamurthy was granted bail by the high court.
