The Karnataka government on Thursday informed the High Court that in two weeks time Chairperson and Judicial member would be appointed to the Karnataka Real Estate Appellate Tribunal (REAT), which has become non-functional due to these vacant posts.

Advocate General Shashi Kiran Shetty said “The concerned files are cleared after suitable recommendations and the same would be taken to its logical conclusion in next two weeks, by appointments being made of the Chairperson and judicial member.

The assurance was given to the court while hearing a petition filed by Parkway Homes by SJR Prime Corp Apartment Owner's Association which had approached the court seeking extension of the interim order of no coercive action against them granted earlier.

A single judge bench of Justice M Nagaprasanna was informed by the counsel for the petitioner that the court had disposed of the petition and granted an interim order allowing it to approach the Appellate Tribunal under the Act, to challenge the order passed by RERA. The relief granted was for a period of 12 weeks which had ended. However, till now only an administrative member is appointed at the Appellate Tribunal. Thus the court had called upon the Advocate General to apprise about the appointment.

The court recorded the submission made by the Advocate General. Further it extended the interim protection order in favour of the petitioners by another four weeks.
