The Karnataka High Court on Friday granted interim anticipatory bail to Bhavani Revanna, Prajwal Revanna's mother, who has been charged with kidnapping a woman.

A single judge bench of Justice Krishna S Dixit granted the interim order and said “Direction is issued to state and police neither to apprehend and arrest the petition or keep her in detention. This is following stringent conditions, this is order granting bail and not awarded to petitioner and not be celebrated.”

Further it directed her to remain present before the office of jurisdictional investigating officer by 1 pm today and cooperate with investigation. In the guise of investigation she shall not be retained in the office beyond 5 pm, it stated.

The court has directed the petitioner shall not hover around Hassan and KR Nagara of Mysore district. This condition was imposed after the Special Public Prosecutor Professor Ravivarma Kumar argued that “She is the mastermind of the crime and let her not enter Hassan and KR Nagara district.”

The court also ordered that the warrant of arrest issued by 42nd ACMM court be kept in abeyance. The Magistrate court had by its order dated May 31, rejected the application filed by Bhavani seeking anticipatory bail following which she was absconding.

Earlier the police had arrested H D Revanna, husband of the petitioner in the case and later he was released on bail. The prosecution has challenged the order before the High Court and sought cancellation. The matter will be considered by the court next week.

As per the prosecution, complainant's mother had worked for Revanna for about six years and was kidnapped by Satish Babanna on Revanna's instructions. Complainant said his friend brought to his notice a viral video allegedly pertaining to the sexual assault on his mother and when he requested Babanna to send his mother back, the latter declined to do so.

The complaint was lodged on May 2 at KR Nagara Police Station.
