The Karnataka High Court has permitted the filing of Public Interest Litigations arising out of the Districts which fall within the jurisdiction of Dharwad and Kalaburagi Benches of the High Court before the respective benches with effect from August 1.
The notification issued by Registrar General K.S.Bharat Kumar reads that “In partial modification of Notification dated 10.06.2008, it is hereby notified that the Public Interest Litigations (PILs) arising out of the Districts within the jurisdiction of Dharwad and Kalaburagi Benches shall be filed in the respective Benches with effect from 01.08.2024.”
It adds “However, the hearing of Public Interest Litigations (PILs) shall be continued by the Division Bench having roster at the Principal Bench, Bengaluru through hybrid mode.”
Further, it directed that all the Officers/Officials working in the Filing Counters and Scrutiny Branches at Dharwad and Kalaburagi Benches shall receive the Public Interest Litigations (PILs) arising out of the Districts within the jurisdiction of respective Benches presented in the filing counter w.e.f. 01.08.2024, register and scrutinise the same and thereafter transfer them to the Principal Bench at Bengaluru for being heard by the Division Bench having the roster through hybrid mode.
